Boy, what a week this has been! Not only did I start watching my carb intake, I also became ill Monday night, forcing me to call off work yesterday & just when I thought I was feeling better I had to leave work early today because I was so warm & couldn't focus, nor stay awake. Ugh.I came home & pretty much crashed! I just woke up a few minutes ago & am feeling better than I have all week. Praise the Lord!
So it's been quite the week to get some things straightened out, but I am happy to say I am still going strong with watching my carbs!
One of my favorite go-to snacks so far?
These guys! YUM! It's amazing just how many foods have carbs in them & I mean, LOTS of carbs! I love crunchy foods, but of course many contain lots of yummy carbs, but nuts are one thing I can snack on, get my crunch on (haha) & get full on pretty quickly. (I save the almonds for last-they're my favorite! ;))
I've had comments & emails asking what PCOS books I am reading, so I thought I would share them here for those who may also have PCOS or think you might. I have found both of these books wonderful sources of inspiration, meal ideas & keeping the faith through this journey.
This first one is one I found during a general Google search one day when I searched "PCOS info." A Patient's Guide to PCOS carries a great source of what PCOS is all about. What is it, how it affects you, what you can do & I love the meal ideas.
Longing for a Child is one I have mentioned here before & was graciously sent to me as a gift by another Nichole & I am so grateful, as I have enjoyed the mini devotions in it & the author says it all so perfectly, often explaining just how I feel or have felt. I pick this one up when I am having "one of those pity party moments" & it usually lifts my spirits after just the first chapter!
Currently, I have four friends expecting & while it's still sometimes a struggle that I am not experiencing that joy myself just yet, I am LOVING sharing in their joy! All four of these girls have AL struggled with infertility & what a blessing it is to see God work! I am over the moon for each of them. My friend Heather is due the first week of December with a baby boy & it's so awesome to see her belly grow & get the text messages every few weeks with a new photo. Nate & I both love it! Another friend just found out she is expecting a little boy also & after losing 2 babies previous, she is just beaming that this one "stuck!" & it blesses me to see her excitement!
It is absolutely amazing how God works! He has really shown me more of His ways in these last couple of months. In those moments of sorrow & when I crumble because I'm not able to share in the same joy as my friends, He comforts me & lets me know I am not alone & things will work out all in His perfect time.
So, I pick myself up, dust myself off & praise Him! Afterall, He knows what's best. So, in the meantime, I am trying to improve my eating & health, educating myself on how to do so, & praying hard that one day it will happen & I am excited for what the future holds!
Just a ramble of thoughts today. :) Hope your week is going well & that you all are keeping healthy! Bugs stink! :)
